What you need

To make the cake, whip eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy. The airier the better at this stage. The texture of the cake depends on this step!

Whisk in the melted and browned butter, whisk until no streaks of butter remain in the egg and sugar mixture.

Add all the dry ingredients to the mix and whisk until it is smooth and no lumps remain in the cake batter.

When the cake has baked, let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a cooling rack.

Before the cake cools completely, brush it with an apple cider soak and dust with spiced sugar.

Slice the cake and serve warm. I even enjoy dunking it in my coffee just like I would a donut!
