When you are searching for a warm and satisfying dinner, grab this Italian Sausage and Peppers Recipe. It's super easy to whip up and ready in 30 minutes or less.
Ingredients
I love this ingredient list. It is basically full of pantry staples that I almost always keep around. Nothing really out of the ordinary.
One note I will share is that I like to use a pre-cooked chicken-based Italian Sausage. It makes whipping up this recipe even quicker. If you can't get your hands on that, just brown up some sausages in the same pan before cooking the onions and peppers.

Method
This simple three-step recipe comes together in just minutes. Start by heating a very large skillet with olive oil in it. When it moves quickly when you swirl the pan, add the onions and peppers to it.
When those have cooked a bit and begun to soften add the sliced sausage to the pan and cook them until they begin to brown a bit.
Then add the tomato products to the pan and bring everything to a simmer until everything is warmed through. Then season and give the dish a taste and add more seasonings if needed.
You can serve it over rice or pasta if you like, but I usually serve it next to my Italian Chopped Salad.
Notes & Tips
I like to use a pre-cooked chicken-based Italian Sausage. It makes whipping up this recipe even quicker. If you can't get your hands on that, just brown up some sausages in the same pan before cooking the onions and peppers.
Prep everything ahead of cooking. Have the sausages cooked and sliced, as well as the onion and peppers sliced. That goes for cans open too! Have everything set and this dinner is ready in NO TIME!
If you want to serve this over rice, prepare it before you start making this. It goes so fast you will want your rice ready and waiting.
If serving over pasta, have the pasta water boiling before you start cooking. Then put the pasta in to cook and start making the sausage and peppers. They will be done at just about the same time!
Substitutions
What's really great about this recipe is you can use any type of sausage you like. If you'd like to keep this vegetarian, use a vegan sausage. Classic pork sausage works too, or maybe you like it spicy. Use a hot Italian sausage.
Yellow onion can also be swapped for the red onion if that's what you have on hand or prefer.
