Y'all, I have to say that I was a little hesitant to make these after making 'Jo's Fatayer' (which I was so excited for) that used canned biscuits and turned out terribly. But these sweet rolls are the perfect mix of home made and prepared items, semi-homemade if you'd like.
The most fantastic thing about this recipe is that you can have something that tastes like it took all day to make, ready in about 10 minutes. I am not this biggest fan of using pre packaged items. There have even been a few recipe in this book that I have swapped out the Velveeta for cream cheese in. I made an effort a few years back to remove all processed foods from my kitchen, there is the occasional exception, but for the most part I keep it as real as possible.
I even take is so far as to stay up all night to make cinnamon rolls from scratch every Thanksgiving and Christmas for the family. I have this secret recipe that was handed down to me and it take 10 hours from start to finish. So I start them just before dinner the night before and then everyone gets to wake up to the smell of fresh yeasty cinnamon rolls wafting through the house. It's a pretty heavenly way to wake up! Note...I only do this 2 times a year, so they have to savor it when it happens. ?
But, when you want to have a sweet and simple Saturday morning this is the recipe that you want to keep in you back pocket. You can even customize it any way you want. Maybe you have pecans or almonds on hand, use those. You could even do a lemon poppy seed glaze if you wanted to. Maybe you add in a little Hawaiian flair with some Macadamias and a lime or key lime glaze. The possibilities are endless, use what you have and just get a little creative.
So those are the pro tips I have for you on this one, make it as is or use it as a base to get super creative. I would love to see your 'Kreations', leave me a comment below for send me your picture on instagram @kendellkreations.
Until next time, happy cooking!
